Instructions to applicants for positions in the judiciary
Application
Send your written application for a position in the judiciary to the court which announced the position. Attach an up-to-date personnel record or the necessary certificates of education and previous work experience to the application.
The application should contain your up-to-date contact information, to enable the Judicial Appointments Board to send you requests for a statement or other documents. If the contact information changes after the application is submitted, inform the court announcing the position or the Judicial Appointments Board of such changes.
If you have applied for several positions in the judiciary at the same time, you should mention this in the application and state their order of preference.
A good application also includes the following information:
Education
- The time of completion of the degree in law required as a qualification, the university where it was completed, and the corresponding information on other degrees conductive to the performance of the official duties.
- Description of your language skills and levels of command, particularly regarding language proficiency required as a qualification.
Previous work experience
- The most important current or earlier employment contracts since the completion of the Master of Laws degree, including a description of the main judicial tasks in these positions.
- Regarding court experience: a description of matters you have handled and any other responsibilities in the court (e.g. mediation in civil matters, positions of trust at the court, temporary substitute positions inside the court, etc.).
- Your personnel record must include your personal identity code, and the information about your former employment relationships must be correct.
Positions of trust
- Activities in bar associations, unions of judges, memberships of ministry working groups, and other similar positions of trust.
Secondary occupations
- Secondary occupations after completing the Master of Laws degree, training or education positions, academic publications.
Other competences
- You may conclude your application by describing other expertise and special competencies related to the position.
Withdrawal of application
Applicants who have been appointed to a corresponding position in the same agency are not considered during the appointment process.
In other cases (e.g. if the applicant is appointed for a position in another agency), the applicant must submit a written withdrawal of application to the court that announced the position, or directly to the Judicial Appointments Board. The withdrawal should clearly specify which application is being withdrawn.
